Combusto 1.0.6: installable as an app

Combusto can now be installed as an app from the browser on Chrome, Edge and Android, with no offline mode so prices stay honest.

Combusto 1.0.6 makes the site installable as an app, straight from the browser.

What's new

  • Install prompt on Chrome, Edge and Android. Combusto now has a manifest and icons, so these browsers can offer to install it directly.
  • iOS/Safari: not offered automatically, but you can still add it to your home screen by hand, from the share menu.
  • Firefox doesn't support this yet, on desktop or Android — the site keeps working there exactly as before, nothing is broken.
  • No offline mode, on purpose. Installing the app doesn't change how it works without a connection: it still needs the network to show fresh prices. We didn't want to risk showing yesterday's price as if it were current.
